Dr. Ashkin was one of the first physicians in the Charlotte area to study sleep medicine and become board certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine in the early 1990’s. He received his bachelors degree from the school of Premedical Science at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, and went on to obtain his medical doctorate degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Additionally, he trained in medicine at The Neurological Institute in New York City and Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and he completed a fellowship in sleep medicine and epilepsy at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. He has been practicing neurological sleep-related disorders at Mecklenburg Neurological Associates in uptown Charlotte, and recently extended sleep medicine services to Ballantyne Sleep Center.
